We are presenting now the first five volumes of what intends to be a Library with a collection of activities that may be used in the class [or in other contexts] at any time. It is NOT a course of English, nor is it meant to teach the language, but rather to provide consolidation and extension material to revise or complement the normal syllabus no matter what course books you are using. I designed these shows originally for my own classes and I have found them amazingly efficient. In only half an hour it's possible to revise nearly 200 words! And the students love them. 'Won't we use the computer today?' has become a common class question. Similar responses have been found by teachers testing the material in other institutions.
VOCABULARY Based on my own teaching experience, and knowing how hard it is [and how little time we have] to revise and use extension materials, I have focused mostly on vocabulary activities at different levels and from different perspectives. There are repertories of high frequency adjectives and everyday TOPICS [food, body, animals, house, clothes, etc.] The WORD BUILDING shows focus on prefixes and suffixes, and form and function practice. Then there are some shows on the use of IDIOMS, COLLOCATIONS and EASILY CONFUSED WORDS. There are also a lot of GAMES, very popular with the students.
